Watch: Priyanka Gandhi in sweep room where police detained her

Sitapur:

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was arrested last night on her way to the violence-hit Lakhimpur Kheri district in Uttar Pradesh and is being detained at Sitapur, about 90 km from Lucknow.

After a dramatic video of the senior Congress leader’s confrontation with the UP Police, his team today released a video from a guest house in the state where he has been detained.

Priyanka Gandhi was on her way to Lakhimpur Kheri to meet the families of farmers killed in the violence on Sunday when she was detained by the police.

The video shows Priyanka Gandhi sweeping the floor of a room at the PAC (Provincial Arms Constabulary) guest house. Later she sat on a fast.

A member of his team told NB, “The room where he is kept was dirty, he himself cleaned the room.”

Congress workers gathered outside the center to protest his detention.

Congress accused the police of using physical force against Priyanka Gandhi and Deepender Hooda.

When police personnel surrounded his convoy in Sitapur, late last night Priyanka Gandhi demanded to show the warrant.

The agitated Congress leader said, “I am not important to the people you killed. The government you are defending. You give me a legal warrant, a legal basis, otherwise I will not move out of here and you will not touch me.” Heard it in the video.

“Warrant niklo, order niklonahi toh mein se nahi hi hai (Prepare a warrant or legal order or else I am not going out of here) and if you put me in that car then I will accuse you of kidnapping. And the charge will not be against the police but against you,” she was telling the policeman.

Congress leader Deepender Hooda, who was accompanying him, was also allegedly assaulted and thrashed.

Earlier on Sunday, eight people, including four farmers, were killed in protest against the visit of Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. The protesting farmers said the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri district started when the minister’s son crushed the protesters.

UP Police has registered an FIR against the son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra.
