Malik said he would write to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray demanding a high-level inquiry from the Mumbai Police as to how these people were detained and later released.

“NCB Director Samir Wankhede, in his media statement on October 3, said that 8 to 10 people were detained, but he arrested only eight. Although 11 people were taken into custody as per official records, three of them – Rishabh Sachdeva, Prateek Ganbhana and Amir Furniturewalla – were freed after phone calls from Mumbai and Delhi. We want to know who called Sameer Wankhede to release these three men. Their phone records should be checked,” demanded Malik.

He said that the police should check the CCTV footage of the cruise and its associated areas along with the phone calls of these three people and NCB director Sameer Wankhede.

Wankhede rubbished all the allegations made by the NCP spokesperson. They said they had detained 14 people, but after their investigation, they arrested only eight, who were linked to a drugs rave party on a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast.

While former BJP youth wing president Mohit Kamboj said that he will sue Nawab Malik and his family for defamation of Rs 100 crore for defaming the name. He said that he is ready for any inquiry and investigation. “Let the Mumbai police check our phones. How can Nawab Malik claim that my brother-in-law was detained in a drug case,” Kamboj asked.

“Rishabh Sachdeva’s family members were also seen at the NCB office. How was he allowed to enter the NCB office? This shows that this is a fabricated case to implicate Aryan Khan to target Shah Rukh Khan,” alleged Malik.

Who is Mohit Kamboj?

Mohit Kamboj aka Indian, a resident of Varanasi, lives in Mumbai. He came to Mumbai in 2004. He is a gold and diamond trader. He was also the National President of the Indian Bullion and Jewelery Association (IBJA) from 2012 to 2019. He changed his last name to Indian in January 2019.

Kamboj worked as the president of the youth wing of the Mumbai unit of the BJP and is close to senior BJP leaders. He was the BJP MLA candidate from Dindoshi Assembly in 2014. He is known to be very resourceful for the BJP as he raises election funds.

Recently, Bank of Baroda declared Kamboj as a willful defaulter. The bank conducted a forensic audit of Avyan Overseas and found that the company “diverted” a part of the loan to help its directors buy assets through unidentified entities. It also found several related party transactions by the firm. The CBI had also registered a case against him in a bank fraud case of Rs 67.22 crore.

In recent times, the name of Mohit Bhartiya also came to the fore for toppling the Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand. The plan was later foiled by the arrest of three people in Ranchi.
